Elsy Buitrago-Delgado, PhD
Assistant Professor, Medicine
Dr. Buitrago-Delgado specializes in developmental biology. She knows the importance of location in a spatial context. She uses spatial transcriptomics techniques to study, at single-cell and single-molecule resolution, how mRNA molecules function in mouse and human stem cell-derived systems during the first few days of development. These molecules produce proteins, which, in turn, guide cellular behavior. The Buitrago Delgado lab hopes to show how RNA quantity and spatial distribution within and between cells help to shape the magnificent choreography of embryonic development.
