Join Ben Newland, PhD from Cardiff University, hosted by Lucia Zhou Yang, MSc, and Jerome Mertens, PhD from the Mertens Lab for a seminar discussing Cryogel biomaterials for local delivery of drugs, proteins, and cells from new models of disease to therapeutic applications.

Time & Location
May 21, 2025, 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM PDT
Sanford Consortium Rooms 1013 A/B, 2880 Torrey Pines Scenic Dr, La Jolla, CA 92037, USA
About the event
This seminar will explore the development and application of cryogels—a distinct class of hydrogels synthesized at sub-zero temperatures—for targeted delivery in the central nervous system. Dr. Newland’s group has demonstrated the utility of these materials in therapeutic strategies for Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and brain cancers, with a particular focus on extended and re-loadable delivery systems.
This will be a valuable opportunity to learn more about the interface between biomaterials and neurotherapeutics, and we warmly encourage your attendance. The event is open to all members of the scientific community!
